SEWS’ Wired Up Wellness Program was recently recognized at the annual Mayor’s Healthy Hometown Movement Worksite Wellness Awards. More than 41 companies across the state were represented at the conference, which was held in Louisville, Kentucky on May 18th.
Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer and Department of Public Health and Kentucky Department of Public Health Coordinator Teresa Lovely presented the awards, recognizing small, medium and large businesses across Kentucky that lead the way in implementing health promotion strategies that include topics such as nutrition, physical activity, and tobacco control. Award criteria is based on completion of a Center for Disease Control Worksite Health Scorecard and evidence-based health promotion interventions and strategies.
SEWS implemented a comprehensive worksite wellness program in 2011 that offered employees wellness labs, health assessments and disease management programs free of charge. Now in its fourth year, the program has reached a record 94% participation rate and has expanded to include free labwork for employee spouses.
“We are thrilled that our program has been recognized at the state-level,” stated Jeanie Dickerson, Corporate Wellness Coordinator. “We recognize the value of having a healthy workforce, and could never have achieved this award had it not been for everyone’s hard work and dedication to the program.”
