LOUISVILLE, KY / MAY 17, 2018 – – Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems’ (SEWS) Wellness Program was recently recognized at the annual Mayor’s Healthy Hometown Movement Worksite Wellness Awards, held in Louisville, Kentucky on May 17th. Wellness Coordinator Jeanie Dickerson accepted the Platinum-level award on behalf of SEWS. This was the second year in a row for SEWS to receive a Platinum Award for wellness.

This year’s conference took place at Gheens Foundation Lodge where keynote speaker, Ann Coffey, spoke to attendees about her experiences as an advanced mountain climber. Her story was the inspiration for the conference theme “Wellness Elevated.”

Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer and Department of Public Health and Wellness Director Dr. LaQuandra Nesbitt presented the awards, recognizing small, medium and large businesses that lead the way in implementing health promotion strategies that include topics such as nutrition, physical activity, and tobacco control.

The awards are based on the nationally recognized CDC Worksite Wellness Scorecard. Points are assigned for proven health promotion strategies in several areas, including tobacco control, nutrition, physical activity, and stress management.
